Subject Specialism - 29/11/18

I finished off both of my character sheets and was able to start modelling. I will start be creating some of the basic assets needed in my scene as well as the characters themselves. I will model everything i need before unwrapping and texturing them. I do it this way because I fell i can keep track of what needs to be modeled better if I do them all in one chunk.

This week I finished off my storyboard and was ready to start working on creating my characters. Since I will be having a male and female character, Ifinished off the female character i started last week and started on the male. I decided on clothing similar to that of the traditional Chinese martial arts dress for the male and for the female, something more similar to MMA fighters. I did this to make modelling the characters easier.

This week I continued with my research and started working on a model sheet. I decided to do a male model and a female model for variety and complexity for my animation. I found a basic character sheet of a female and stared to trace over it to make it my own. I completed my synopsis, thus allowing me a clearer image of what to draw for my storyboard. I am aware the synopsis is shorter than what would be submitted to a real company, but since my animation is more focused on the fight sequence than a fully fleshed out story, I feel the synopsis is long enough to cover what I need. I also started working on my story board. Since my art skill is minimal, it will be fairly simplistic but from this I will be able to make a simple animatic which will allow me to start working on the bulk of the project. I already have a library of sounds so making an animatic will be fairly easy and should I need any sounds, I will be able to make my own simplistic sounds even if with my mouth a...

I started working on my practical work this week. I created a mind map to generate ideas as well as a mood board. Using these, I will be bale to start working on creating a synopsis, story board and script. These tasks will allow me to work on the main bulk of the project with more ease.

Research

Subject Specialism Research – Animation In animation there are what’s known as the twelve principles of animation. These are the building blocks of all animation and the more accurately an animator can portray these principles, the better their animation will be. Not every principle has to be used in every scene of an animation but they do need to be kept in mind when animation so that should a situation arise where they can be implemented, they can be. These principles are predominantly used in 2D animation but are still very important in 3D animation so I will be sure to study and learn to use as many of these principles as I can. Squash and Stretch Squash and stretch is the process of elongating the dimensions of your objects to better show the speed, momentum, weight and mass of whatever has been animated. The amount something squashes and stretches shows how heavy or how fast something is moving. One example of this would be if you were to a...
